Ignition fall to Wave, 11-4, in inaugural XSL game

Milwaukee, WI- The Detroit Ignition lost an 11-4 decision to the Milwaukee Wave tonight in the inaugural game of the Xtreme Soccer League.

Ignition forward Mike Apple scored the first goal in XSL history at 3:44 of the first quarter, a two-point score with an assist from defender Josh Rife. The Ignition held onto the lead until midfielder Marcelo Fontana put the Wave on the board with 12 seconds left in the half, tying the game at two-all. Vahid Assadpour scored another two points for the Ignition under a minute into the third quarter, but Jacek Przednowek scored a hat trick to give the home team a 9-4 lead half-way through the fourth. Nathan Sabich scored on Detroit's open net to bring the final score to 11-4.

The Ignition will open their home schedule on Saturday, December 20 against the New Jersey Ironmen. Kick off is at 7:35 pm at Compuware Arena.

The Detroit Ignition is a charter member of the Xtreme Soccer League, and begins the team's third season in December 2008 after completing the 2007-08 season as regular-season champions of the Major Indoor Soccer League.
