Ignite Suffers Heartbreak to Lakers, 124-117

HENDERSON, Nev. - NBA G League Ignite (2-21) was defeated by the South Bay Lakers (12-7), 124-117, on Sunday at The Dollar Loan Center in Henderson, Nev.

Ignite was led by Michael Frazier II, who posted a season-high 29 points with four rebounds and two steals on 10-of-15 shots from the field, including 7-of-9 from the three-point line. Gabe York followed with 26 points, six assists, five rebounds and three steals. Matas Buzelis finished with 21 points, eight rebounds and two blocks, while Tyler Smith added 17 points and eight rebounds.

Jalen Hood-Schifino paced the Lakers with a final stat line of 29 points, 10 rebounds and five assists on 9-of-12 shooting from the field. Maxwell Lewis tallied 25 points, six rebounds, four assists and two steals, while Bryce Hamilton provided 24 points and four rebounds off the bench.

After 16 lead changes, the score was even at the halfway mark (66-66). Gabe York led the way for Ignite after pouring in 23 first-half points on 8-of-13 shooting from the field, including 5-of-9 from behind the arc. York's 23 points in the first half matched a franchise record for the most points in a half. Maxwell Lewis, of the Lakers, responded with 19 points and four rebounds in the first half. Despite the tie, Ignite shot 54.3 percent from the field and 52. 6 percent from the three-point line during that span. The Lakers pulled out a five-point advantage in the third quarter behind Jalen Hood-Schifino, who poured in 13 points in the frame. The Lakers caught fire in the quarter after shooting 71.4 percent from the field, including 57.1 percent from behind the arc. Down 101-96, Ignite used a 12-2 run to take a five-point lead with 5:38 remaining in regulation. The Lakers quickly reclaimed the lead after scoring 11 consecutive points and maintained its lead to seal the victory.
