IFL Week 8 Players of the Week Announced

The Indoor Football League (IFL) is proud to announce the Vidswap.com Players of the Week for Week 8 of the 2019 IFL season.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Ryan Balentine (WR, Iowa Barnstormers) The Iowa Barnstormers continued their hot start to the season by shutting down the Bismarck Bucks 55-16 in Week 8. Long-time IFL veteran WR Ryan Balentine had a nose for the endzone in the victory as he found his way into the end zone on four different occasions. Balentine, who leads the IFL in receptions, led the IFL again this week adding eight more catches to his total. Balentine finished his night against the Bucks with eight receptions for 43 yards and four touchdowns. It was a exceptionally historical night for Balentine as he moved into second place all-time on the IFL's career receptions list with 411 career receptions. Balentine also now ranks fourth all-time in receiving yards (4,781) and all-purpose yards (6,585). The Iowa Barnstormers face the Sioux Falls Storm in Week 9 in a rematch of last season's United Bowl.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Antwan Smith (DB, Bismarck Bucks)

The Bismarck Bucks fell to the Iowa Barnstormers 55-16, in Week 8. Bismarck DB Antwan Smith however made not only a difference on the defense but on the scoreboard. At the end of the third quarter, Smith scooped up a botched snap and returned it for a touchdown. The defensive score was the Bucks first touchdown of the game and Bismarck did not find the end zone again until late in the fourth quarter. In addition to leading the team in tackles with seven, Smith intercepted Barnstormers QB Daquan Neal near the end zone and returned it 22 yards. It was only Neal's second interception of the season. The Bismarck Bucks travel to face the Cedar Rapids River Kings in Week 9.

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Ernesto Lacayo (K, San Diego Strike Force)

The San Diego Strike Force won their first-ever game in Week 8, topping the the Cedar Rapids River Kings 40-34. In a tight game, K Ernesto Lacayo helped provide the difference. Lacayo provided the only points in the third quarter as he converted a 51 yard field and a 43 yard field goal to give the Strike Force. His two field goals ,ultimately, provided the difference in the final score. Lacayo would also complete four of his five extra points attempts. Lacayo currently ranks second among kickers with 59 points and leads all kickers in extra point percentage (97%). The San Diego Strike Force return home on April 22 as the host the Arizona Rattlers.
