December 15, 2008 - Indoor Football League (IFL)
Sioux Falls Storm News Release

The Indoor Football League (IFL) announced the Storm's 2009 schedule today. The Storm will be looking to win their fifth consecutive national championship, while winning the first title for the inaugural Indoor Football League Season.

The Indoor Football League is made up of 21 teams in 14 states, including Alaska and Texas. 2009 marks the first year for the league which is the product of a 2 league merger between the Storm's former league, United Indoor Football League and the Intense Football League.

The Storm will start the 2009 season with four days rest between the first two away games. On Saturday March 14th the Storm will travel to Bloomington, Illinois for a rematch in last year's United Bowl IV Championship game against the Extreme. The Storm won their fourth straight United Bowl by coming back from behind to beat the Extreme, 40-35.

After returning from Bloomington on Sunday, the Storm will have a short practice week to leave on a plane to go to Rochester, New York to face the Raiders for a Thursday, March 19 game. This will be the first game, in the history of the two teams, between the Raiders and the Storm.

The home season will open the following week as the Storm will play a 3:05PM Sunday afternoon game on March 29 against their rivals from Omaha, the Beef. This will be the only time the Storm will play the Beef in the regular season of 2009. The Storm are still perfect in their home openers, having never lost one yet.

The Storm will travel south to Wichita for week four to face the Wild on April 4. Last year the Storm beat the Wild, 57 - 14.

The Bandits will become familiar foes for the next couple weeks, as Sioux City and Sioux Falls will trade off home field for week five and six. On April 11 the Storm will travel down to the Tyson Center, with the support of Storm fans and the Storm Chaser bus to face off against the Bandits.

The following week, the Bandits will come up to Sioux Falls to face the Storm in their second home game of the season on Saturday, April 18th at 7:05. This will be the second of three meetings between the I-29 rivals. The Storm will be in Billings on April 5 before coming home to battle Sioux City on April 12. The Storm have won their last 11 contest with the Bandits, dating back to their United Bowl I Championship game.

Sioux Falls will travel out to Billings, Montana to face the Outlaws on April 25 before their first bye of the season on May 2nd.

The Storm will then have two home games in a row, starting off against the Muskegon Thunder on May 9th. Wichita will then come back to the Sioux Falls Arena on May 16th to square off against the Storm.

The Storm will then clash again with the Thunder when they head out to Muskegon, Michigan on May 23rd.

Sioux Falls will have two weeks to prepare for their back to back contest with the Outlaws, starting off with their return to Billings on June 6. They'll return home to see the Outlaws again, this time at the Sioux Falls Arena on June 13.

The Storm will welcome another merger team, this time from the great state of Alaska on June 20. The Fairbanks Grizzlies will come to Sioux Falls to face the Storm in their first match up in team history.

The Storm and fans should be well-rested for their final home game of the 2009 season when they welcome the Sioux City Bandits after two bye weekends. The Bandits will come to the Arena on July 11 to wrap up the 2009 regular season.

Six of the seven Storm home games begin at 7:05 PM on Saturdays, with exception to the first home game of the season, falling on Sunday, with a 3:05 PM kick off.
