IFL Announces Week Nine Players of the Week

Published on May 18, 2023 under Indoor Football League (IFL) News Release

The Indoor Football League is proud to announce the Players of the Week for week nine of the 2023 XV season. Vegas Quarterback, Daquan Neal, is the Offensive Player of the Week. Duke City Defensive Back, Nazir Streater, earns Defensive Player of the Week. Special Teams Player of the Week goes to Gabriel Rui, Kicker for the Iowa Barnstormers.

Daquan Neal - OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

It was an absolute battle when Vegas hosted Arizona on Saturday night. With both teams led by former IFL MVPs in Daquan Neal and Drew Powell, they went blow for blow for all four quarters. The Rattlers kicker went down with an injury prior to kickoff. So, of course, the game would come down to a one-point margin. In the end, the Knight Hawks walked away with a 55-54 victory. Neal finished the night completing seven of eleven pass attempts for 163 yards and three touchdowns. Neal was just as affective on the ground with 120 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Combined, Daquan went for 283 yards and five touchdowns.

Nazir Streater - DEFENSIVE PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

The Duke City Gladiators had lost three consecutive games by a total of 87 points. They needed a win, and they came out firing. They jumped out to a 19-0 lead in the first quarter thanks to two interceptions on Tucson's first two possessions. That proved to be enough to earn a 56-49 win over the Sugar Skulls. Gladiators Defensive Back, Nazir Streater led the impressive defensive effort. He was all over the field making an impact all night. Streater finished with 9.5 tackles, .5 tackle for loss, one pass breakup and one interception.

Gabriel Rui - SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Sitting at 0-6, Iowa needed a win more than anyone in the league. Well, they didn't just win. They blew the doors off. They exploded to a 21-0 first quarter lead and never let off the gas. The Barnstormers expanded on that lead to defeat the Massachusetts Pirates by 30 points. A big part of the victory belongs to veteran IFL kicker, Gabriel Rui. With his foot alone, Rui scored 17 points. Gabriel finished the night going 9/9 on PATs, 2/3 on Field Goals and 2/2 on Deuces. A masterful night for the Barnstormer kicker.

The second half of the season kicks off on Saturday, as six games will be played on Saturday and one on Sunday. The action starts on Saturday at 6:05 p.m. CT when Quad City visits Massachusetts. Get all the details at www.GoIFL.com.
