IFL Announces Players of the Week

Published on June 24, 2009 under Indoor Football League (IFL) News Release

Richmond, VA: The inaugural Indoor Football league season is winding down, and playoff fever is upon us. Many individual performances throughout this season have led their teams to all important victories. The three players selected this week for honors each fit that category, and are main cogs in their teams championship run. Fans can visit GoIFL.com to see the video highlights that made these young men the VidSwap.com Players of the Week.

WEEK FIFTEEN OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK -QB CHRIS DIXON/BILLINGS OUTLAWS

Offensive Player of the Week and Chris Dixon seem to be synonymous this season. The Outlaws Quarterback is being recognized for the award for the fourth time this season after his performance last week against the Colorado Ice. Dixon added six more touchdown passes to his league leading total to bring him to 66 on the season, while throwing for 231 more yards. He also added 16 yards rushing on three attempts. The IFL Fan's Choice MVP Candidate has his team at 11-1, and is showing no signs of slowing down come playoff time.

WEEK FIFTEEN DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK -DE RACHMAN CRABLE/ SIOUX FALLS STORM

The Storm may be down, but they are certainly not out. Still holding out hope for the final playoff spot in the Central Division, Rachman Crable and the rest of the Storm defensive unit shut down the usually potent Fairbanks Grizzlies offense. The defensive end made life for Quarterback Justin Rummell miserable sacking him three times. He also added four tackles for losses of 19 yards, a forced fumble, a safety, and returned another fumble 35 yards for a touchdown. With performances like this one, opposing offenses are crossing their fingers that they don't have to face the Storm in the post-season.

WEEK FIFTEEN SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK-WR/KR CARL SIMS/BLOOMINGTON EXTREME

All it takes is an opportunity to shine. When IFL Fan's Choice MVP candidate Laroche Jackson went down with an injury in Bloomington's 50-12 victory over Maryland, Sims was given that opportunity in the kick return game, and he didn't disappoint. Half way through the second quarter Sims broke loose and took a kickoff 57 yards to the house to put the Extreme up by two scores. He also showcased his skills on offense by hauling in a 15 yard touchdown pass. The Extreme never looked back from there, and in the process snapped the Maniacs ten game winning streak.

Week 16 begins with a slate of seven games on Saturday, June 27, starting with Maryland at Rochester. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 PM EST. Follow all the action at www.goifl.com and on the B2 broadcasts www.b2livetv.com of each game all season long.
