IceRays Sign Defenseman Jesse Dudas

The Corpus Christi IceRays have signed rookie defenseman Jesse Dudas, IceRays General Manager/Senior VP, Pat Dunn announced Friday. Dudas has already joined the team, and is expected to make his IceRays debut before the close of the season. The IceRays will return home on Thursday to the American Bank Center on College night and Dollar Menu Night at 7:05pm. Dudas, 21, gives the IceRays a big body on the blue line. The first-year St. Albert, Alberta native stands 6'2" and weighs 215 lbs. Prior to joining the IceRays, Dudas had played in 22 professional games. In the 2006 NHL Entry Draft, he was selected in the 6th round, 159th overall by the Columbus Blue Jackets. Dudas spent his junior career in the WHL, among four different teams. Last season, he appeared in five games as an amateur with the ECHL's Charlotte Checkers. To begin this season, he signed with the Bloomington PrairieThunder of the IHL. He had nine points (4g, 5a) and six penalty minutes in 17 games. The IceRays have ten games remaining. According to CHL rules, all new players must play in a minimum of three games to be playoff eligible.

In a pair of related moves to make room on the IceRays roster, Corpus Christi placed defenseman Chris Mei on the 30-day injured reserve list, and defenseman Tyler Sheldrake was moved from the 30-day IR to the season-ending IR.

The IceRays will return to action on Thursday night at 7:05pm when they host the Texas Brahmas on College Night and Dollar Menu Night at the American Bank Center. College students will receive discounted tickets starting at just $5, and all fans can get $1 hot dogs, popcorn, and sodas at the game. Then on Sunday, it's Citgo night in a 3:00pm game vs. the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs. The IceRays will auction off their red jerseys to fans following the game.
