Corpus Christi IceRays News Release

AMARILLO, TEXAS - The Corpus Christi IceRays (9-14-3) were downed by early goals as they slipped 3-1 to the Amarillo Bulls (8-20-3) on Friday night at the Amarillo Civic Center.

After an early press up front by the IceRays, the Bulls took back control and netted the game's first goal. At 5:49, forward Liam Ferguson slotted in his own rebound by a sprawling IceRays netminder toward the right side to give his side a 1-0 lead. On the first Amarillo power play at 11:10, forward Joey Molinaro found an open Johan Lundgren just off the left side of the IceRays net to tuck in the doubling goal, 2-0. The IceRays were outpaced 18-11 in shots in the opening frame.

Scoring picked back up in the third period, and despite both sides being down a player, Bulls forward Brady Crabtree found some open room to race into the offensive zone and just barely nudge it across the goal line at 4:26 to triple the lead, 3-0. As the game stretched later, the IceRays continued to press forward and found their breakthrough on the power play. At 14:25, forward Andy McGlynn baited out the Bulls netminder to the right side enough to tuck the puck around the sprawling goaltender to find an answer, 3-1. Though the IceRays pulled the netminder late to force both a 5-on-4 and a 6-on-5, it wasn't enough to grab another, falling 3-1.

Bulls goaltender Anton Martinsson (8-15-3) gets the win, stopping 41 of 42 shots, while IceRays netminder Graham Hunt (4-8-2) picks up the loss, turning aside 35 of 38 shots. The IceRays play their final game before the holiday break against the Amarillo Bulls on Saturday, December 19 at 7:05 p.m. from the Amarillo Civic Center. Coverage begins at 6:50 p.m. on SportsRadio Corpus Christi (KSIX 1230AM) and FASTHockey.com.

The IceRays come back to the American Bank Center on Tuesday, Dec. 29 for the first of a two-game set against the Odessa Jackalopes.
