Matchup: The IceHogs opened a three-games-in-three-days series with a win over the Wild Thursday night and enter tonight's contest having won each of their last three games.
Forward Matthew Highmore netted his second professional hat trick last night at Iowa and has now scored eight of his 14 goals against the Wild. The rookie leads Rockford in scoring in the season series with Iowa, combining for eight goals and one assist in seven contests thus far in 2017-18.
Goaltender Collin Delia earned his first AHL win against the Wild last night and is now 1-1-0-0 in two career contests with Iowa. He stopped each of the Wild's two penalty shots on Thursday en route to the victory.
Iowa takes the ice Friday with just three wins in its last 11 games since Dec. 2. The Wild are led by Ryan Murphy, who has a team-high six points (1g, 5a) in six games against Rockford this season, and Sam Anas, who enters tonight's game tied for the longest point streak in the AHL in 2017-18. Anas has amassed 14 points during his current 10-game point streak.
In net, Niklas Svedberg (four games) and Steve Michalek (three games) have split the work load through seven meetings with the IceHogs. Svedberg is 1-2-1 and Michalek owns a 2-1-0 clip against Rockford.
Next Home Game: The Rockford IceHogs return to the BMO Harris Bank Center to take on the Cleveland Monsters on Saturday, Jan. 6. The first 1,000 kids ages 14 and under will receive a free youth IceHogs jersey, courtesy of Ortho Illinois.
