February 19, 2010 - International Hockey League 2 (IHL 2)
Port Huron Icehawks News Release
PORT HURON, MI - The Port Huron Icehawks announced that they have signed Peter Flache, a big, gritty center who comes to the IHL after playing the past two seasons in Germany's top professional league. Per team policy, details of the deal were not disclosed.
Flache (6-5, 210 lbs) was drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks in the ninth round of the 2000 NHL Entry Draft while playing in the Ontario Hockey League. In 2002, Flache played his first of four seasons in the ECHL, making stops in Greenville, Toledo, Gwinnett and Dayton along the way.
Following the 2004-05 season, Flache briefly retired from hockey before returning in 2006 to play for St. Francis Xavier University (Antigonish, Nova Scotia). In the 2007-08 season, he played 37 games with the ECHL Dayton Bombers before going to Germany to begin a three-year stint overseas. He started this season with the Straubing Tigers, where he recorded five points (3g, 2a) and 108 penalty minutes in 42 games.
The 27-year-old Toronto native has tallied 96 points (38g, 58a) and 466 penalty minutes in 267 games as professional. He played four seasons in the Ontario Hockey League before turning pro, including stints with the Guelph Storm, North Bay Centennials and Saginaw Spirit.

Flache is one of three new players to join the Icehawks roster this week. He joins left wing Matt Maccarone and former Flint Generals defenseman Bryan Nathe, who were both signed yesterday.
Flache will not be in the roster tonight when the Icehawks take on the Komets in Fort Wayne, but is expected to make his Icehawks debut tomorrow in Bloomington. Port Huron will wrap up a three game road trip on Sunday in Quad City, before returning to McMorran on Tuesday, February 23 to take on first-place Muskegon. Joe Kocur will attend the game and sign autographs as part of Red Wings Legend Night.
Single game tickets for all Icehawks home games are on sale now at the McMorran Arena Box Office, any Ticket Master location or by phone. For more information, visit www.porthuronicehawks.com or call 810-966-3800.
