November 19, 2009 - International Hockey League 2 (IHL 2)
Port Huron Icehawks News Release

PORT HURON, MI - The Port Huron Icehawks and local radio station WSAQ are teaming up for a food drive to benefit the Mid City Nutrition Soup Kitchen. Fans are asked to bring non-perishable food items to McMorran Arena during this Saturday's game against the Dayton Gems at 7:30 p.m.

The WSAQ staff will be manning the concession stands throughout the game, with a portion of all tip money also going to Mid City Nutrition. The Mid City Nutrition Program provides many services, including the soup kitchen, substance abuse counseling and a free health clinic. It is located in the basement of the Saint Martin Lutheran Church at 805 Chestnut Street in Port Huron.

"We're honored to be able to work with WSAQ to support such a great cause," said Dave Goetze, Icehawks Vice President/Business Manager. "With two different ways to help the soup kitchen get ready for the holiday season, we hope to make this a great success."

The Icehawks will also raise money during Saturday's game for another good cause. All proceeds from that night's Chuck-A-Puck promotion will be donated to help Gary Hall, an employee of South Park Welding who was injured in a recent explosion at the Port Huron business.

The Icehawks host the Quad City Mallards on Friday and the Dayton Gems on Saturday. Both games start at 7:30 p.m. Single game tickets for all Icehawks home games are on sale now at the McMorran Arena Box Office, any Ticket Master location or by phone. For more information, call 810-966-3800.
