August 19, 2015 - SPHL (SPHL)
Louisiana IceGators News Release
Louisiana IceGators head coach Drew Omicioli has traded the rights of forward Benjamin Rubin to the Mississippi RiverKings in exchange for goaltender Adam Courchaine.
"We are beyond excited to have acquired Adam Courchaine from the Mississippi RiverKings," stated Coach Drew Omicioli. "Adam is a player who has seen time in the AHL, ECHL and SPHL. He has put up solid numbers in all three leagues. My goal this off season was to find a definitive number one goal tender that could come in and lead us to a championship. Adam is a guy that I feel possesses that and is going to bring experience and leadership between the pipes to help our organization attain our first President Cup Championship. His size, stature in the net and ability to play the puck make him one of the top goal tenders in the SPHL."
The 26 year old Kanata, Ontario native played in 31 games last season for the RiverKings finishing with a record of 14-13-2 and a .911 save percentage. "I knew there was a chance I could get moved this summer and the IceGators was one of the teams I was hoping for," said Courchaine. "With the team coach Drew Omicioli has assembled, I'm excited for what the upcoming season holds. I'm looking forward to getting down to Louisiana and get things started."
The IceGators will face off against the RiverKings for their season opener on October 23rd in Mississippi before they return for their home opener on November 5th at the Cajundome. Season tickets are currently on sale and individual tickets will go on sale in September.
