Louisiana IceGators News Release
Pensacola, Florida--The Louisiana IceGators gave up two goals in the first two minutes en route to a 5-3 loss to the Pensacola Ice Flyers. Chris Wilson scored three points, including those first two goals, as the Ice Flyers out-shot the IceGators 44-33.
A slow start tonight cost us, said head coach Kevin Kaminski. Not that we didn t have our chances, but we couldn t catch up. We tried making comebacks, but they responded with goals after our goals.
Shawn McNeil put the IceGators within a goal of the tie when he scored early in the second period. However, goals from Kevin Brojek and Jordan Chong gave the Ice Flyers a 4-1 lead going into the second intermission. Brayden Metz and Josh Boyd scored in the third period, but it wasn t enough to overcome Pensacola s advantage. Andrew Howes also tacked on an insurance goal in the third for the Ice Flyers.
We were just average tonight, admitted Kaminski. I thought our compete level and urgency weren t there. We have to regroup, respond, and have a much better 60 minutes tomorrow.
The IceGators travel to Biloxi for a Friday night match against the Pensacola IceFlyers. That game begins at 7:05 P. M.
