The Niagara IceDogs lost 3-1 to the Sudbury Wolves to open their OHL season Friday night in Sudbury.

Graham Knott opened the scoring in the game, and the season, as he converted a nice pass from McCool by beating Troy Timpano on the backhand. It would be the only goal of the period, despite the IceDogs throwing 17 pucks Timpano's way.

The Wolves would tie it up in the second when Michael Pezzetta beat Brent Moran for his first OHL goal. They could have had a couple more but Moran made some great saves to keep the score tied late in the period.

The IceDogs carried the play in the third, much like they did in the first two periods, but they couldn't find a way to beat Timpano. Brody Silk gave Sudbury the lead midway through the period when he picked the puck up in the neutral zone and broke in alone. Pavel Jenys added an empty net goal for good measure to hand the IceDogs their first loss of the season.

The IceDogs are back at it Saturday night when they travel to Sault Ste. Marie to battle the Greyhounds.
