Indiana Ice News Release
ROAD WARRIORS: The Indiana Ice finished the first leg of their six-game road stretch on a strong note, recording a 6-3 win at Chicago Sunday afternoon after a pair of tough losses in Youngstown. The weekend started rough as Indy dropped a 5-1 decision to the Youngstown Phantoms at the Covelli Centre on Thursday. Alex Talcott notched the lone tally for Indy while Anderson Snair logged 20 saves in net. Friday's contest against the Phantoms was a much closer affair as Mikhail Plotnikov, Joseph Widmar and Jason Salvaggio all scored in the 5-3 setback. Plotnikov shined in Sunday's contest against the Chicago Steel as the forward recorded his second hat trick in the last two weeks. Lukas Laub added a pair of goals and Drew Newmeyer had a power play marker, while several other Icemen registered multiple point efforts in the win. Snair stopped 22 of 25 shots on net to earn his fifth win of the season.
WELL "PLOTTED": The Mikhail Plotnikov goal scoring tear continued over the weekend as he compiled four goals in three games and he now has ten goals and four assists in his last ten contests. Plotnikov recorded his second hat trick in two weeks in Sunday's win over Chicago and he now leads all Icemen in points (18G, 20A) and multiple-point games (9).
TEAM EFFORT: Sunday's win in Chicago was a total team effort as five Ice players amassed multiple-point efforts in the victory. In addition to Plotnikov's hat trick, Lukas Laub posted his first two-goal game of his USHL career and the trio of Patrick Newell (3A), Bryan Yim (2A) and Jake Cass (2A) combined for seven assists in the game.
