CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE "NOT TOO NICE" KIND: The Ice dropped a pair of one-goal contests in completely different fashions last weekend losing 5-4 in overtime to Green Bay on Friday and 5-4 in regulation to Muskegon Saturday. The Gamblers rallied from a two-goal third period deficit to tie the game at four, before winning in overtime. The game was a tale of two halves as the Ice dominated early with 19 first period shots while receiving a strong performance from Daniil Tarasov, Jake Fallon and Robert Polesello who combined for three goals and four assists. Saturday was a different affair as the Ice had to fend off 11 power plays granted to Muskegon and rallied back for three third period goals only to lose on a late rebound shot in the third. Robbie Baillargeon and Woody Hudson knocked in a pair of goals, while Christian Hilbrich had two assists.
ROCKIN' ROBBIE: Forward Robbie Baillargeon has been on a scoring binge as the first year Iceman enters this weekend's action on a four-game point streak that includes five goals and an assist. His two-week span includes two multiple goal games and a shorthanded goal. The future Boston University Terrier is making his USHL debut this season after a productive career at Cushing Academy in Massachusetts.
"ONE IS THE LONELIEST NUMBER": The Ice is just 1-2-2 this season in one-goal games which includes a 0-2-1 mark at home. In their last three games, Indiana is 0-1-2 which includes a shootout loss to Youngstown, an overtime setback to Green Bay and a regulation defeat to Muskegon.
FROM THE WOODSHED: Forward Woody Hudson had a memorable game on Saturday night as the first year forward from Greece, NY scored a pair of hard-working goals and won his second period bout over one of the tougher guys in the USHL in Muskegon's Carter Foguth.
TEAM SCOOPS: The Ice has a better record on the road (4-1-1) than at home (3-2-1)...Daniil Tarasov is second in the USHL in points (19)...Jake Fallon has points in five of his last six games (4G, 5A)...Alex Barron leads all league d-men with 11 points...Indy is first overall on the power play (32.6%) and second in goals for/game (4.00)...Robert Polesello has four points (G, 3A) in his last two games.
ALUMNI YELL: Massachusetts' T.J. Syner (07-08) is second in Hockey East in scoring with 15 points after scoring four points (G, 3A) last weekend...Kyle Bonis (07-08) had four points for Ferris State in a three-point weekend against LSSU...Grant Blakey (08-09) and Brent Gwidt (06-09) had three-point weekends for Mercyhurst and UNO respectively.
