ICE Visit Tigers Following Christmas Break

Cranbrook, B.C. - The Kootenay ICE (8-22-5-1) begin the unofficial second half of the 2018-19 regular season by visiting the Medicine Hat Tigers (17-15-1-2) on Friday, December 28.

Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. MT.

The ICE are coming off of a 7-4 loss to the Edmonton Oil Kings on December 16. The ICE received goals from Cole Muir, River Fahey, Martin Bodak and Brad Ginnell. Goaltender Jesse Makaj stopped 32-of-38 shots. The Oil Kings got two goals from Brett Kemp and Dylan Guenther, while Vince Loschiavo, David Kope and Scott Atkinson collected the others. The ICE were outshot 39-30. They went 2-for-4 on the power play, 2-for-4 on the penalty kill and won 32-of-73 face-offs.

The ICE have amassed 22 points this season, which is good for sixth in the Central Division and 10th in the Eastern Conference.

The ICE have a road record of 2-10-3-1.

The Medicine Hat Tigers host the Kootenay ICE for the second time this season on Friday, December 28. The Tigers are coming off of a 12-day Christmas break. The Tigers haven't played since December 15. Friday's game begins a three games in three days stretch for the Tigers, who face Victoria on Saturday and Lethbridge on Sunday. Heading into Friday's game, the Tigers are fourth in the Central Division and seventh in the Eastern Conference.

The Tigers are coming off of a 2-1 loss to the Kelowna Rockets on December 16. The Tigers received its lone goal of the game from James Hamblin, assisted by Ryan Chyzowski. Goaltender Jordan Hollett stopped 18-of-19 shots. The Tigers outshot the Rockets 32-20. They went 0-for-6 on the power play, 3-for-4 on the penalty kill and won 37-of-66 face-offs.

The Tigers have collected 37 points this season, which is good for fourth in the Central Division and seventh in the Eastern Conference.

The Tigers have a home record of 8-6-1-1.

HEAD TO HEAD

This is the third meeting of the season between the ICE and the Tigers. The ICE are 1-0-1-0 against the Tigers so far this season. The next meeting between these two teams is January 4 in Medicine Hat.
