Winnipeg Ice News Release
The Winnipeg ICE erased a 2-0 deficit after the opening period on their way to a 4-3 victory over the Prince Albert Raiders Tuesday night at the Art Hauser Centre.
Connor McClennon got the ICE rolling with a shorthanded goal 2:45 into the second period. Matthew Savoie's first of two on the night 46 seconds later tied the game and then Graham Sward completed the comeback giving Winnipeg their first lead with three seconds remaining in the period.
Savoie's second goal of the game at 3:15 of the third period proved to be the game winner. Conor Geekie chipped in with three assists to reach the 70 point mark on the season for the second straight year.
With their 53rd win of the season, the ICE match a franchise high they achieved last season.
Cole Peardon, Sloan Stanick and Evan Herman replied for the Raiders, who are now 0-4 against Winnipeg this season. Prince Albert remains five points back of the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference standings with five games left.
Savoie led all players with seven shots as the ICE outshot Prince Albert 35-25.
Both teams were 0/3 on the power play.
The ICE return home for a pair of games this weekend at the ICE Cave inside Wayne Fleming Arena against the Raiders Saturday at 7:00 and Sunday at 5:00.
