Ice Miners Acquire McPherson from Amarillo

CONNELLSVILLE, PA - On the heels of their third straight loss and seventh in nine games, the Ice Miners traded veteran defenseman Nick Le Sage to the Amarillo Bulls for veteran forward Mitchell McPherson, head coach and general manager Michael Gershon announced on Friday.

McPherson, 19 years old from Peoria, IL, is in his fourth year in the NAHL. He played with the Texas Tornado (now the Lone Star Brahmas) from 2011 to 2013, where he was part of the 2012 Robertson Cup winning squad. The 6'3, 205 pound forward went on to serve as assistant captain with Amarillo in 2013-14, where he scored 13 goals and added 14 assists. He has one goal and two assists in 16 games with the Bulls this season.

Le Sage, 20, a Green Bay, WI native was in his second season with the Ice Miners organization. He had 5 goals and 14 assists in 57 games in Port Huron last season, before adding six assists in the first 17 games of the 2014-15 season.

The Ice Miners are home this weekend with a set against the Soo Eagles on Saturday night at 7:30 and Sunday afternoon at 1:00, before finishing the pre-Thanksgiving schedule with three games in Illinois next weekend.
