Indianapolis Ice News Release

INDIANAPOLIS, IN-- The Indianapolis Ice made several roster moves today as the team officially signed forward Ryan Carter and defensemen Jamie Carroll and Nate Elliott, while acquiring forward Marc Suderman from the Oklahoma City Blazers for future considerations. The club also trimmed its roster of four players by releasing forwards Lee Jenke and Don Malko, defenseman Brandon Verner and goaltender Derek McCluskey.

Suderman, who had a solid camp with the Blazers, has skated the last four seasons with the Providence Friars (Hockey East- NCAA-I). He played in 31 games last year with the Friars and notched six points (3G, 3A) and four penalty minutes.

Overall, the 6-0, 185-pound forward accumulated 41 points (13G, 28A) and 28 penalty minutes in 126 collegiate games. His best season was his junior campaign in which he played on one of the top two lines and compiled 26 points (7G, 19A) and a team-leading four game-winning goals in 40 games of work.

"All four of these players should fit in nicely on this team," said Ice Head Coach Ken McRae. "I look for Carter to continue where he left off in college by being a power forward who can score some big goals for us. In Carroll and Elliott, I got two big stay-at-home defensemen and Suderman gives us great speed up front and someone who can play all three forward positions."

The Indianapolis Ice opens up the regular season and its 15th season of hockey in the "Circle City" with a pair of home games this weekend as the team hosts the Tulsa Oilers on Friday, October 18th and the Memphis RiverKings on Saturday, October 19th. Both games begin at 7:00 p.m. from the Pepsi Coliseum.
