Indiana Ice News Release

WINNER WINNER IOWA DINNER: The Ice improved to 4-1-1 in their last six games after back-to-back wins Saturday and Sunday against the Dubuque Fighting Saints and Des Moines Buccaneers. Four unanswered goals helped lift Indy over Dubuque to take down the only remaining undefeated team in the USHL 5-3. The Ice received two-point nights from Patrick Newell (2A), Dwyer Tschantz (G, A) and Denis Smirnov (G, A), while Aidan Muir, Alex Talcott and Scott Conway joined in with goals of their own. In net, Jason Pawloski made 38 saves for the win. The Ice followed up Saturday's performance in dominating fashion with a 6-1 victory over the Buccaneers which included five unanswered goals and a 43-21 shot margin. Conway led the assault with three points (2G, A), while Tschantz (G, A) and Joshua Jacobs (2A) also posted two-point afternoons. 11 other players had at least a point in the contest and Muir, Tyler Andrew and Michael Booth were the other goal scorers. Pawloski was the victor again between the pipes which included 20 saves.

(ALMOST) RECORD NIGHT: Indy's offensive performance on Sunday set new league highs for the season and barely fell short of breaking a pair of long-standing records for the Ice. Scott Conway's 12 shots on net was one short of tying Paul Carey's (Lake Erie-AHL) Ice record of 13 shots set December 8, 2007 in a 5-3 win over the Chicago Steel. Indy's 25 third-period shots on Sunday was three-bullets short of tying the current franchise record of 28 set on Valentine's Day in 2009 as the Ice fell to the Des Moines Buccaneers 3-2 from the Pepsi Coliseum.

HIGH FIVE: Forward Scott Conway extended his goal streak to three games and point streak to five games with three goals and an assist in the two weekend wins. The first-year USHL'er now leads the Ice in scoring with ten points (6G, 4A) in ten games and has accumulated eight points (5G, 3A) for his five-game point streak.

KILLING THEM SOFTLY: With two perfect games this past weekend, Indy's penalty killing units have now not allowed a power play goal since 10/4/13 against Team USA U17. The Ice has killed off 26 straight opponents' power plays and has only allowed one power play goal on 15 opportunities on home ice this season. The sizzling stretch has boosted the team to second in the USHL with an 88.0% penalty killing clip.
