Pensacola Ice Flyers News Release

Pensacola, Fla., - Aug. 31, 2012 - The Pensacola Ice Flyers have acquired forward August Aiken and defenseman Sean Murray from the Louisiana IceGators in a trade for Matt Robertson, as announced today by head coach Gary Graham

"It's extremely difficult making decisions when managing trades, as you have to give up quality to get quality and this trade was exactly that. I was looking to address a few specific areas and I feel like this trade allowed us to accomplish that," commented Graham.

The 5-foot-9, 170-pound Aiken, will be entering his second season of professional hockey with the Ice Flyers after playing four years in the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) and one year playing Division I at the University of Alaska-Anchorage in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA). A native of Whittier, Calif., August recorded 17 goals and 18 assists for 35 points during 52 games last season with the IceGators.

"August is a creative forward that wants to have the puck. He competes consistently hard for loose pucks and is tough to play against," said Graham. "He goes to the tough areas and I look forward to seeing him develop in his second season of professional hockey."

At 6-foot-1 and 195 pounds, Murray will add significant size to the Ice Flyers' roster. Notching three goals, 19 assists and 93 penalty minutes in 51 games during his rookie season with Louisiana, Murray is expected to excel even more in his second year in the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL). Sean played Division III for three years at Buffalo State University in the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC).

"Sean is a physical, steady defenseman who can play in all situations. He manages the puck well and keeps things simple. He contributes offensively and makes smart decisions when joining the rush," stated Graham. "I'm anticipating a very successful season from Sean as he continues to grow into what I feel will be one of the league's top defenseman."

The Pensacola Ice Flyers thank Matt for all of his hard work during his rookie season in Pensacola, and would like to wish him best of luck with the Louisiana IceGators.
