Winnipeg ICE goaltender Daniel Hauser earned his first shut out of the 2023 WHL Playoffs in a 3-0 decision over the Saskatoon Blades Friday night at the ICE Cave inside Wayne Fleming Arena.
Hauser's 16 saves included eight in the opening period and four each per period over the final 40 minutes to give the ICE a 1-0 lead in the best of seven Eastern Conference Championship Series.
Ben Zloty, Zack Ostapchuk and Carson Lambos scored for the ICE, who outshot the Blades 28-16. Lambos led all players in the game with six shots.
Ethan Chadwick suffered the loss in goal for Saskatoon.
Winnipeg went 0/1 on the power play while the Blades were 0/4.
The series continues tomorrow (Saturday) afternoon, 4:00 at the ICE Cave inside Wayne Fleming Arena.
