
Ice Battle Generals in Final Regular Season Game

FORT COLLINS, CO - The Colorado ICE (5-8) take on the Lonestar Division leading El Paso Generals (9-2) this Saturday, June 27th at 6:00 pm (MDT) at the El Paso County Coliseum. This is the second meeting between the two teams, the first occurring on June 13th at the Budweiser Events Center, with the Generals prevailing 65-33.
The ICE have struggled with player injuries, but newcomers such as RB Maurice Cantrell, who has scored seven touchdowns in the last three games, has rejuvenated the ICE offense. The Generals' offense is led by league MVP candidate QB Tommy Jones who averages over 230 yards per game and has completed 56 TD passes. Saturday's game against the Generals will be the ICE's last regular season game before heading into the playoffs. The ICE will face the Fairbanks Grizzlies in mid-July the first round of the playoffs. The final regular season league games will determine if the ICE host or travel to Fairbanks for the playoff game.
"The Generals are a solid team and a good matchup for us," stated ICE head coach Collins Sanders. "We need to be playing our best in preparation for the playoffs and the Generals will demand that level of effort from us. Our priority right now is to stay tough and to stay healthy and to finish the season strong."
This Saturday's game will be broadcast live via the Internet on the B2 network (B2tv.com) and on the radio on Northern Colorado's ESPN affiliate KJMP AM 870. The ICE's next game will be the week of July 18th for the first round of the 2009 IFL playoffs.
The Colorado ICE are members of the Indoor Football League (IFL). All home games are played at the Budweiser Events Center in Loveland, Colorado.
