Austin Ice Bats News Release

(Austin, TX) - The Austin Ice Bats announce today they've signed Stuart Kerr and Kurtis Kisio for the upcoming 2007-2008 season. Stuart Kerr is a defenseman who spent the last two years in the ECHL playing for Pensacola, Reading, and Long Beach. Before that he played four years in the Western Hockey League. Kerr is expected to be a defensive presence for the Ice Bats. "Kerr is a big, defensive defenseman. He's a strong, tough, stay at home guy to anchor our blue line," said Ice Bats Head Coach Brent Hughes.

Kurtis Kisio is the son of 13-year NHL veteran, Kelly Kisio. Kurtis will begin his rookie season after playing at Minnesota State University-Mankato where he tallied 57 points in his four year career. Before college, Kurtis scored 74 points in 62 games for the Calgary Royals of the AJHL. "I'm excited about things. I've heard Austin is a great place, lots of people, and a college town so I think it will be similar to being back at school. I'm not the biggest guy out there, but hopefully I can produce a couple of points and work my way up the lines." Coach Hughes added, "(Kurtis) is an offensive player who will make things happen. He has a good view of the ice and will be a good offensive threat."

The Ice Bats are getting ready to begin their 12th season in Austin. The 2007-2008 campaign begins October 19th against the Texas Brahmas. For single game, group, and season ticket packages call (512) 927-PUCK (7825) for more information.
