Indianapolis Ice News Release

INDIANAPOLIS, IN-- The Indianapolis Ice announced today that the team has signed goaltender Will Hamele (HAM-ell) to replace Jeff Sanger, who is on call-up to Norfolk of the American Hockey League. Hamele gives the Ice a netminder seasoned at the collegiate level after the team was forced to use three different amateur emergency goaltenders last week to back up Brent Zelenewich.

Hamele, 24, makes his pro debut this season after four collegiate years with the Fredonia Blue Devils of the S.U.N.Y.A.C. Conference (NCAA-III). He closed out his senior year at the school in splendid fashion as he was a First Team All-American and the S.U.N.Y.A.C. Player of the Year after going 12-11-0 with a 2.27 goals-against-average and a .912 save percentage in 23 games between the pipes.

The native of Dearborn, Michigan enjoyed much success at Fredonia as he was all-conference on two occasions and he was also the 2000-01 S.U.N.Y.A.C. Player of the Year. Overall numbers at the school included a 36-36-6 record, 2.66 GAA, .913 save percentage and four shutouts in 82 games. Hamele and the rest of the Ice players will head to the Colorado Rockies on Wednesday afternoon as the team prepares for a weekend road set against the expansion Colorado Eagles. Friday and Saturday nights' games are slated for 9:00 p.m. The team's next home game is Thanksgiving night against the Oklahoma City Blazers with face-off scheduled for 7:00 p.m. from the Pepsi Coliseum.
