With his power play goal at 10:44 of the third period in Saturday's 9-4 win over Wichita, Ice captain Bernie John passed Chris MacKenzie to become the top Ice scorer in the 16 years of the franchise with 298 points. The record-setting goal was part of his second five-point night already this season and gave him nine points (3G, 6A) for the weekend earning him CHL Player of the Week honors. Overall, John is the top-scoring defenseman in all of pro hockey entering the week with 21 points (5G, 16A) to go along with four power play goals.

OFFENSIVE OVERDRIVE: In a weekend sweep of the Wichita Thunder, the Ice erupted for 16 goals and shored up a power play that had struggled in the early stages of the season. The team scored seven power play goals in Saturday's win which tied an all-time CHL record for most power play goals in a game set previously by Odessa (1998-99) and Oklahoma City (1995-96). The power play barrage also catapulted the Ice from 15th at the beginning of last week to second at the start of this week with a 20.8% clip (16-77).

MULTIPLICITY: Bernie Johns' record-setting heroics highlighted a weekend of shining moments as eight other players enjoyed multiple point outings over the weekend. Mario Doyon equalled John with a five-point night of his own on Saturday and had six points (2G, 4A) in the weekend wins. Jason Selleke had back to back multiple goal games and Joe Guenther returned from I.R. to knock in two goals on Saturday. Russ Guzior extended his point streak to four games over the weekend and had two-point evenings both Friday and Saturday. Jason Baird (2G, 3A) and Jared Dumba (5A) enjoyed five-point weekends, while Philippe Choiniere and Dave Gilmore had two-assist nights on Friday and Saturday respectively.

SANGER WATCH: Jeff Sanger made his Norfolk Admirals debut stopping ten of 11 shots this past Saturday night as he played the third period of a 6-3 loss to the Hershey Bears in American Hockey League action.

ROCKY MOUNTAIN HIGH: The Ice plays the expansion Colorado Eagles for the first time ever this weekend when the two teams square off Friday and Saturday night in Loveland, CO. The Eagles line-up is one of experience as their 18-man roster has played 4,325 professional games and 247 games in the NHL. The Ice roster features 3,432 pro games and 28 NHL games for defenseman Mario Doyon.

TEAM TOPICS: Bernie John and Mario Doyon are the top-scoring defensive duo in the CHL with 34 points (9G, 25A)...The Ice is 4-1-0 in its last five games and boasts the league's number one penalty kill (51/58, 87.9%)....Indy has outscored its opponents 16-8 in the first period of games this year...The Ice has never beaten the New Mexico Scorpions as the team is 0-2-1 in the three all-time meetings.
