GENEVA, ILLINOIS - Chicago Steel defenseman Ian Moore has been named United States Hockey League Defenseman of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.

Moore, selected by the Anaheim Ducks in the third round (#67 overall) of the 2020 NHL Draft, helped the Steel to two thrilling overtime victories with a goal and an assist in a 5-4 win against the Youngstown Phantoms on April 15 and a helper on the overtime game-winning goal in a 3-2 victory over the Green Bay Gamblers on April 17.

With the victory on April 17, Moore helped Chicago clinch the Anderson Cup as USHL regular season champions, the second consecutive season the Steel have been earned the title.

"Ian's overall character and high-level play has shown through his play thus far," said Steel associate head coach Matt Deschamps. "Ian is a great teammate with charismatic attitude that's highly valued in our locker room. Ian possesses great offensive instincts and a heavy, accurate shot. Ian's been a key contributor to our style of play and deserves this great recognition by the League."

Moore, a Harvard-bound blueliner, has totaled 24 points (10G, 14A) in 43 games played during the 2020-2021 season. Moore has reached the scoresheet in 10 of his last 12 games with 11 points (4G, 7A) over that stretch.

This is the 11th time a Steel player has earned Player of the Week honors this season. At least one skater from Chicago has earned the weekly honor in 10 of the 24 weeks of the regular season thus far.
