
Hurricanes Win Streak Ends with Road Loss to Island Storm

The Halifax Hurricanes seven-game win streak was snapped Thursday night in Charlottetown as the Island Storm escaped a competitive game with a 96-93 win.
The Hurricanes went into halftime with a one-point lead, but the Storm came out of the break to go on a 30-22 third-quarter run that had the Hurricanes playing catch up in the closing minutes of the game. Despite outscoring the defending Storm team 20-16 in the fourth, the Hurricanes couldn't convert on some late scoring opportunities.
Antoine Mason played another excellent offensive game for the Hurricanes. He shot 57 per cent from the floor on his way to a team-high 26 points.
Ta'Quan Zimmerman contributed big buckets as well, hitting four three on the night and finishing with 15 points.
The Hurricanes got great rebounding efforts from Mike Poole with 12 and Tyrone Watson and CJ Washington with 10 apiece.
The now 20-10 Hurricanes have played well as of late eight of their last 10 games, all while facing a tough road schedule that only this week and next.
The Hurricanes drive to Saint John, New Brunswick on Friday to meet the Riptide at Harbour Station. It was there on Feb. 4 that Hurricanes last lost a game. They'll be looking for a different result tomorrow. After that the Hurricanes will head to St. John's Newfoundland for back-to-back games against the Edge on Mar.6 and Mar. 7.
The Hurricanes will be back at home on Thursday, Mar. 15 to host the Moncton Magic. You can buy tickets for that game at the Ticket Atlantic Box Office or online.
