Lethbridge Hurricanes News Release
Lethbridge, AB - The Lethbridge Hurricanes raised their home record to 9-4-0-0 as they took six of a possible eight points this past week. The Canes finished off the week with a 3-0 win in Red Deer on Saturday night. Juha Metsola notched his third shutout of the 08-09 season to lead the Hurricanes to the win over the Rebels. Red Deer native Colton Sceviour led the Canes with a three point night (1G,2A) while line mates Zach Boychuk (1G,1A) and Carter Ashton (1G,1A) notched the two other Lethbridge goals. For Metsola, the 31 save performance marked his sixth career WHL shutout and raised his record in 08-09 to 10-12-0-1. The Canes now have a week to prepare for an important pair of home games; as they play host to the Brandon Wheat Kings and Edmonton Oil Kings this weekend.

Home sweet home: Thus far this season, the Canes have a 9-3-0-0 record at home and have outscored their opponents 45-28 within the friendly confines of the ENMAX Centre.
NHL CSS Preliminary Rankings - Carter Ashton and Brennan Yadlowski were both ranked in the Top 25 of NHL Central Scouting Service's Western Hockey League Fall Preliminary rankings. Ashton, the Hurricanes 1st round pick (7th overall) in the 2006 WHL Bantam Draft has been ranked 6th among WHL skaters while Yadlowski has been ranked 25th.
Famous Firsts - Lethbridge native Max Ross notched his first career WHL goal on Nov.19 in a 6-2 win over the P.A. Raiders. Carter Ashton tallied his first career hat trick on Nov.16 in a 5-3 win over the Edmonton Oil Kings.
World Class Hockey - Zach Boychuk and Colton Sceviour will each play in the 2008 ADT Canada Russia Challenge Nov.26 &27 in Swift Current and Prince Albert. For Sceviour it will be his 1st Team WHL appearence while Boychuk will represent Team WHL for the third straight season.

Head Coach Kelly McCrimmon and the Brandon Wheat Kings will make their first visit to the ENMAX Centre since being bumped from the 2008 WHL Playoffs by the Canes in Game 6 of their opening round series. On that night the Canes posted a dominant 4-0 shutout win over the Wheaties to advance to the second round of the WHL Playoffs for the first time in 11 years.

Lethbridge will look to improve on their 3-2-0-0 record against Moose Jaw last season as they play host to the Warriors on this night for the first time in the 08-09 season. Last year, the Canes played several close games against the Warriors with their last win on ENMAX Centre ice coming on Nov.11/07. The Warriors would then go on to an early first round exit from the 2008 WHL Playoffs at the hands of the Calgary Hitmen.
