Hurricanes Suffer Third Loss of the Season at Home to the Cape Breton Highlanders.

Halifax, (NS) - The Halifax Hurricanes were back in action Friday night for their first of a two game home stand at the Scotiabank Centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The Atlantic Division leading Hurricanes faced off against the 5 - 9 Cape Breton Highlanders, who hold the fourth place spot in the five team Division. The Highlanders defeated the Hurricanes 91-88.
Both teams came out to a slow start in the first quarter with the Highlanders scoring 19 points and the Canes only 13 behind 0 - 8 shooting from 3 point range. After falling behind 25-13 to begin the second quarter, Halifax came storming back and eventually took a 35-34 lead on the strength of much improved shooting from the field and 4 of 5 shooting from beyond the arc. The second half was a back and forth affair that saw multiple lead changes between the two teams. In the end, the Highlanders got the better of the Hurricanes in a game that went down to the last possession.
Halifax got 15 points apiece from Ta'quan Zimmerman, Antoine Mason and Tyrone Watson. Halifax PF/C Billy White had another double-double, adding14 points and 12 rebounds.
The Highlanders got massive contributions from Anthony Walker (19 points, 18 Rebounds) and Michael Rostampour (10 points, 14 rebounds). Shaquille Keith led the Highlanders in scoring with 21 points.
The Highlanders were able to pull out the win despite having a shallow eight man man bench.
The Hurricanes will take on the Moncton Miracles on Saturday, February 11th at 7pm. The Hurricanes have won all three contests between the two teams so far this season.
