SAINT JOHN, N.B. - Despite having their way on the offensive glass, the Halifax Hurricanes fell 91-88 to the Saint John Riptide at Harbour Station on Thursday night to end their six-game December road trip.

The Hurricanes were able to convert 21 second-chance points off offensive rebounds during the game, but could not hit enough shots to get the edge over the Riptide, shooting just 39.5 per cent from the floor and 29.2 per cent from three-point range.

The Hurricanes sixth-man Jordan Washington came off the bench and put up a game-high 25 points on eight of 16 shooting. He also hit nine of ten free throws and pulled down 10 boards.

Gabe Freeman put together an 18-point, 14-rebound double-double, while Mike Poole (16 points) and Joel Kindred (13 points) each hit big three's to keep the Hurricanes close to the Riptide.

The Riptide's gritty effort was led by Frank Bartley (19 points, five rebounds), Chris Early (18 points, nine rebounds) and Brent Arlington (18 points, five assists).

The Hurricanes won two of six on the road this month and return to Scotiabank Centre with a 6-7 record Friday as they prepare to bounce back against the Cape Breton Highlanders at 7 p.m.
