The Halifax Hurricanes are Atlantic Division Champions for the third-straight season!
The Hurricanes defeated the Moncton Magic 95-87 in Game 5 of the division finals series on Saturday night at Scotiabank Centre to advance to the 2018 National Basketball League of Canada Finals!
The Hurricanes controlled the game through the first half and resisted a late-game push by the Magic in the third and fourth quarters to end the series.
Antoine Mason led the Hurricanes with 26 points of nine of 20 shooting while hitting four threes and grabbing six rebounds. Mason is averaging a team-high 23.3 points per game in the playoffs and shooting almost 36 per cent from three.
Tyrone Watson continued his dominant playoff campaign with a 17-point, five-assist outing. His solid, all-around play helped propel the Hurricanes to both their series victories so far these playoffs. He's averaging 8.4 rebounds, almost four assists and 18 points per game.
Centre Rhamel Brown put down 15 points, grabbed nine rebounds and came up with two blocks and steals. While power forward Billy White continued to show off his range, hitting two three on his way to 15 points.
The Hurricanes will meet the either the London Lightning or the St. John's Edge in the NBLC Finals. London currently leads the Central Division series three games to two. Game 6 happens Sunday night in St. John's, N.L.
