Hurricanes Can't Catch Weekend Win, Lose in Charlottetown to Storm

CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. - The Hurricanes cut the lead to 10 after trailing by as much as 24 on Sunday, but couldn't complete the comeback against the Island Storm. The Hurricanes dropped their second game in a row, losing to the Storm 118-100 at the Eastlink Centre in Charlottetown.
Halifax had no answer for the Island Storm's hot shooting early, shooting below 40 per cent for much of the games. Over four quarters, Halifax hit just 39.6 per cent of their shots, despite efficient scoring from guards Terry Thomas (23 points on 10/22 shooting) and Joel Kindred (21 points on 6/12 shooting). Kindred's points came largely from his five made three-pointers.
Thomas's led the Hurricanes in scoring for the second day in a row and grabbed eight rebounds to go with his game-high 23 points.
Jordan Washington muscled in 17 points off the bench and grabbed six rebounds.
Newly signed Hurricane and NBLC veteran Darin Mency provided some late scoring spark for the Hurricanes as they attempted to cut the lead back to single digits. He finished with 10 points and five rebounds.
Sunday's loss capped a rough weekend for the Hurricanes after they lost a very close game in overtime to the Moncton Magic on Saturday evening at Scotiabank Centre in Halifax.
Then on Sunday, Jan. 20, the Hurricanes return to Scotiabank Centre to host the Sudbury Five. Tickets for that game are available at the Ticket Atlantic Box Office or online.
