Halifax Hurricanes Forward Tyrone Watson grabs a rebound against the Island Storm
(Halifax Hurricanes)
The Halifax Hurricanes beat the Island Storm 120-103 on Saturday to win the National Basketball League of Canada Atlantic Division Semifinals and advance to the Division Finals for the third season in a row.
Game 4 saw the Hurricanes get off to their best start of the series, with a 30-point opening quarter to gain a lead on the Storm that they never relinquished.
The Hurricanes were once again led by starting forward Tyrone Watson who filled out his box score with an impressive triple-double: 26 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists. To add to the completeness of the game, he shot a near-perfect 10-11 from the floor and hit all six of his free throws.
Watson's dominant performance was backed up by big scoring from Antoine Mason, who knocked down four three-pointers on his way to 22 points.
Billy White scored 15 in the game while pulling down seven boards.
Every Hurricane on the roster scored at least three points in the blow-out win, showcasing the Hurricanes' depth and team-first attitude.
After a slow start to the series, the Hurricanes were able to share the load and have different players step up in different ways in each game. They'll continue to need that versatility going forward as they continue their playoff campaign.
The Hurricanes will face either the Moncton Magic or Saint John Riptide in Round 2, who will play each other in a Game 5 in Moncton on Monday, April 16.
