SYDNEY, N.S. - The Halifax Hurricanes got a much-needed win over their provincial rivals on Friday thanks to strong play from their reserves.

The Hurricanes beat the Cape Breton Highlanders 114-108 in overtime at Centre 200 in Sydney after trailing for the first-half of the game by as many as 15. The Hurricanes had lost their last two games against the Highlanders in Halifax last month.

Tyrone Watson came up big off the bench for Halifax, leading his team with 24 points on 12 for 20 shooting, while pulling down five rebounds.

Fellow bench player Mike Poole also helped lift the Hurricanes with 22 points of his own.

For the starters, veteran point guard Cliff Clinkscales had a busy night. He finished with 16 points, 10 assists, four rebounds and three steals, while forward Billy White had 17 points to go with 13 boards.

Ta'Quan Zimmerman finished with eight points, hitting only one three on the night, but picked his spot as his made triple tied the game in the fourth quarter to set up overtime.

The Hurricanes will host the Niagara River Lions at the Scotiabank Centre in Halifax next Friday, Jan. 12.
