Huntsville Flight News Release
GREENVILLE, S.C., February 4 â The Huntsville Flight has acquired forward Damon Thornton from the NBA's National Basketball Development League available pool, according to an announcement by NBDL director of basketball operations Chris Alpert and Flight head coach Ralph Lewis.
Thornton, 6-8, 235, averaged 6.9 points and 7.2 rebounds in 2000-01 as a senior at North Carolina State. Since then he has played internationally in China and Portugal. He was selected to play in the 2003-04 Portuguese XV All-Star Game while playing for Oliveirense Simoldes. He also played for the Atlanta Hawks at the 2003 Boston summer league.
Thornton's addition brings the Flight's roster back to the full compliment of 10 players after Mengke Bateer and Bernard King left the team. He is expected to be in uniform tonight when the Flight is host to Asheville at the Von Braun Center.
