Hunter McCoy Commits to Brown University

November 30, 2020 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Maryland Black Bears News Release

Hunter McCoy has had a big month of November both on and off the ice. In his 6 games played in November, he has totalled 4 goals and 4 assists and has extended his point-streak to 7 games. Brown University took notice of the forwards impact and the '00 birth year will be joining their program next season. McCoy's production in a Black Bears uniform hasn't just been limited to this past month. In his twelve games with Maryland, he has tallied 6 goals and 6 assists. Coach Mylymok has been very impressed with the veteran forward thus far and had this to say on his commitment:

"Hunter came to Maryland as a man on a mission. He competes hard in everything he does, and truly has a passion for the game. He is a great story for the younger players in our program. He believed in himself, he works hard to get better, and he loves to compete every time he steps onto the ice. He knew what he had to do, on and off the ice to get a commitment, and took charge of his destiny. We could not be more happy, or proud, of Hunter McCoy. Brown University is getting a really good person, and hockey player on their campus."

McCoy had this to say about his commitment:

"First and foremost I want to thank my family for all of the countless sacrifices, love, and support they have given me throughout my life, to allow me to chase my hockey dreams. Without them, along with all of my coaches, teammates, teachers, and friends, none of this is possible. They believed in me and pushed me to be the person and player I am today. Coming into my final year of junior hockey, with so much uncertainty going on in the world, I made the decision to come to Maryland and it was the best decision I ever made. Coach Mylymok and Gotkin have built a top tier program loaded with talent in just a few short years. I could not be more grateful for becoming a part of the culture in which competing and development are at the forefront. I believe the lessons I have taken from here will carry into the next steps of becoming a successful student-athlete at Brown University (ECAC). It took a lot of hard work and commitment and it is very humbling to have it all come to fruition. It will be a dream come true when I head there this fall."
