Milwaukee Wave News Release
It was a tale of two halves for the Milwaukee Wave and Chicago Soul at the U.S. Cellular Arena. The Soul came out strong in the first, but it was 16 unanswered points in the second half that would propel the Wave to a 18-10 win. Extending the team's winning streak to 14 and clinching an MISL playoff spot.
It was the Wave who began the scoring as Ian Bennett would put one in the net to give the Wave an early 2-0 lead. The Soul would answer back with a goal by Semir Mesanovic to tie the score at 2-2. Chicago would take a 4-2 lead into the second quarter on a late goal by Carlos "Chile" Farias.
Chicago came out strong at the beginning of the second quarter as Semir Mesanovic scored his second goal of the game to put the Soul ahead 6-2. Later in the quarter Christian Meza extended the Soul's lead to 8-2, but Luan Oliveira would trim the Wave's deficit to 8-4 heading into the half.
The Wave came out on fire in the third quarter. First, Oliveira blasted a two point shot to score his second goal of the game, cutting the Soul's advantage to 8-6. Not long after, Ian Bennett tied the game at 8-8 with his second of the contest. The Wave then took back the lead when Joe Hammes scored to make it 10-8. Oliveira would complete the hat trick later in the quarter, as the Wave increased their advantage to 12-8. Hewerton scored another for the Wave to complete a ten point third quarter for the team, and give them a 14-8 lead after three quarters.
In the fourth quarter, the Wave's lead climbed to 16-8 on a goal by Tenzin Rampa. The Wave stretched the score to 18-8 on another Oliveira goal. The Soul would try to come back as Erik Lukin made it 18-10, but that would be as close as it would get, as the Wave increased their winning streak to 14 games.
The Wave's next game is against the Missouri Comets Saturday, February 2nd at 6 pm at The U.S. Cellular Arena. A special family four pack is available for Saturday's game. Tickets are also available for purchase. For more information on tickets visit www.milwaukeewave.com or call 414.224.9283.
