NORWICH, Ct. - Ryan Karstetter tallied the lone extra-base hit for the Connecticut Tigers (25-34) on a double in the second inning before the Hudson Valley Renegades (36-26) retired the final 14 Tigers batters in a row during a 6-0 road win at Dodd Stadium on Tuesday night.

Alfredo Silva (Loss, 0-1) made his first New York-Penn League start since rejoining Connecticut from Gulf Coast League Tigers West. The 20-year-old lefty from Venezuela walked three straight Renegades to open the second inning and hit Allen Smoot with a pitch to bring home a run. Marvin Malone followed with a sacrifice fly RBI to center field and Silva left the ballgame after walking the bases loaded again. Reliever Felix Viloria allowed one inherited runner to score on a sac fly and Hudson Valley took a 3-0 lead in the second inning without a base hit.

The Renegades doubled their lead with an RBI double from Tyler Frank in the fourth, an eighth-inning RBI double by Garrett Giovannelli, and a sac fly RBI for Erik Ostberg later in the eighth. Tigers reliever Victor Mueses pitched a scoreless ninth inning.

Karstetter, Jeremiah Burks, and Jose King recorded the only three hits for Connecticut against Hudson Valley starter Nicholas Padilla (Win, 3-5). Relievers Tanner Dodson (Hold, 1) and Justin Montgomery pitched four perfect innings with three combined strikeouts. Hudson Valley improved to 7-1 against Connecticut this season as the Tigers fell 8 1/2 games behind the first-place Tri-City ValleyCats in the Stedler Division with 14 games remaining.

On Wednesday, the Tigers try to avoid a three-game sweep by Hudson Valley on Three Plus Me Night at Dodd Stadium with four reserved tickets, four hot dogs, four sodas, and a bag of popcorn for just $40 (an original value of $65.50). Game coverage on the Norwich Courtyard by Marriott Connecticut Tigers Radio Network begins at 6:50 p.m. with Kevin Gehl and Elijah Gonzalez on WICH 1310 AM and online at CTTigers.com.

The Connecticut Tigers are the New York-Penn League affiliate of the Detroit Tigers at Dodd Stadium in Norwich, Connecticut. Individual tickets for all 2018 home games, season memberships to "The Club," ticket mini-plans, and Tigers team merchandise are now on sale at Dodd Stadium, by phone at 860-887-7962, and online at CTTigers.com.
