Norwich Sea Unicorns News Release
NORWICH, Ct. - Jeremiah Burks tallied the lone RBI for the Connecticut Tigers (25-33) with an infield single during the sixth inning but the Hudson Valley Renegades (35-26) rallied for three unanswered runs in the final three frames to hand the Tigers a 3-1 loss on Monday night at Dodd Stadium.
Connecticut starter Adam Wolf and reliever Juan Aguilera combined to open the ballgame with 5 2/3 scoreless innings, four hits, and four strikeouts. Aguilera worked around four walks and stranded four runners between the fifth and sixth innings.
The Tigers broke the scoreless tie with a two-out rally in the bottom of the sixth. Alexis Garcia drew a walk, Dayton Dugas singled to center field, and Burks brought Garcia home on a single to third base; his first RBI since July 18 at Hudson Valley.
Trailing 1-0 in the seventh, Hudson Valley scored twice with two outs on a wild pitch by Tigers reliever Arvicent Perez (Loss, 0-2) and an RBI double by Renegades shortstop Ford Proctor. Hudson Valley added one more run in the ninth when Dylan Stock allowed a sacrifice fly RBI by Tyler Frank.
Connecticut went hitless through the final three innings against Renegades reliever Alan Strong (Win, 1-1). Hudson Valley improved to 6-1 against Connecticut this season as the Tigers fell 7 1/2 games behind the first-place Tri-City ValleyCats in the Stedler Division with 15 games remaining.
