
Hudson Valley Renegades Pitch For Kids Fund Announces Grants

FISHKILL, N.Y. (December 22, 2009) - The Renegades Pitch for Kids Fund is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2009 grants. This year five grants were distributed to the following non-profit groups: American Red Cross of Dutchess County, Malboro Youth Baseball and Softball, Cardinal Hayes School for Special Children, Special Olympics of New York-Hudson Valley Region and Saint Basil Academy.
American Red Cross of Dutchess County - Babysitters Program: The Babysitters Training Program is a seven hour course that teaches students 11 to 15-years-old how to responsibly care for young children and infants.
Malboro Youth Baseball and Softball - Bambino Buddy Ball Division. The Bambino Buddy Ball Division offers mentally and physically challenged boys and girls 5 to 21-years-old the opportunity to participate in youth baseball or softball.
Cardinal Hayes School for Special Children - HOPSA Dress: A HOPSA Dress is a suspended track system, which utilizes a HOPSA harness for students with multi-handicap conditions. The dress will enable students to participate in activities in an upright walking position who are unable to do so without the harness.
Special Olympics of New York Hudson Valley Region - Unified Sports (bowling and golf): The program pairs traditional Special Olympic athletes with other athletes on sports teams for training and competition. The athletes help serve as peer coaches and role models for the Special Olympic athletes. The program will help improve the athletes' physical fitness, enhance motor skills and build friendships that will last a lifetime.
Saint Basil Academy - Laundry Basket of Love: Laundry Basket of Love is a program which gives the residents of Saint Basil Academy the essential everyday toiletries and teaches proper hygiene and helps build self esteem.
