Houston team changes name, gets ready for second half
January 3, 2007 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Houston Takers News Release
Houston, TX. "When we started, we thought the name Houston Undertakers would really gain some attention," said Larry Leonard II, team owner. "It did - but not the right kind. Fans did not like the name, even some of our players didn't like it. So we decided to change. Effective on January 1st, to bring in the new year, we've changed our name to the HOUSTON TAKERS - and we've set an objective - to take some games from the division leaders. There's an all new attitude around here already - the fans wanted the change, the players wanted the change - and we've done it. And now, we're dedicated to making the playoffs.
Fans of Houston: We're asking for your support - the HOUSTON TAKERS ARE ON THEIR WAY."
