Houston Takers Plan Food Drive For Hurricane Ike
October 23, 2008 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Houston Takers News Release
Houston, TX. The ABA Houston Takers will be having a food drive on November 8th to assist the community that has been hit hard economically by Hurricane Ike. "We have decided to reach out to those who are still struggling to get back on their feet from the hurricane," stated Larry Leonard, team owner. "Our players and other volunteers will assist in lending a helping hand while the City of Houston recovers. The Houston area was hit very hard by the hurricane and it left a million homes without power for over 5 days."
If you would like to assist or volunteer, please email the Houston Takers at Houstontakers@yahoo.com. The Food Drive will be held at New Faith Community Church at 8230 Antoine Drive, Houston, TX from 10am-2pm. For more information, visit www.houstontakers.com or www.abalive.com.
Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams. For information on professional minor leagues, please see OSC's basketball section.
