Houston Dynamo FC Forward Sebastián Ferreira Voted MLS Player of the Week Presented by Continental Tire for Week 13

NEW YORK - Houston Dynamo FC forward Sebastián Ferreira was voted the Major League Soccer Player of the Week presented by Continental Tire for the 13th week of the 2022 MLS season.
Ferreira contributed to all three goals in Houston's dominant 3-0 win on the road against the LA Galaxy. It marked the first time a Dynamo player had three or more goal contributions in a match since Darwin Quintero on August 25, 2020, as he accomplished the feat in just his 12th game with the club since joining prior to the season. He has now recorded a team-leading eight goal contributions in his first 12 MLS games.
The forward opened the scoring in the 11th minute when Corey Baird's shot was saved into the path of Ferreira who swiftly chipped the ball over the goalkeeper and into the back of the net. In the 58th minute, Ferreira recorded his first assist of the match when he evaded a defender and sent a cross-field pass to Tyler Pasher, who cut inside and scored a terrific bending strike to give the Dynamo a 2-0 lead. The Paraguayan international capped his terrific performance with an assist on the counterattack after wrong-footing a Galaxy defender and then finding Thorleifur Úlfarsson in plenty of space to dribble past a player and smash his shot into the roof of the net for the third and final goal of the match.
With his performance, Ferreira helped the Dynamo earn a road victory against the Galaxy for the first time since October 28, 2018. Additionally, Ferreira's eight goal contributions in 2022 are the most by a Dynamo player in their first MLS season since Alberth Elis (14) and Romell Quioto (10) in 2017.
Ferreira is the first Dynamo player to win MLS Player of the Week presented by Continental Tire since Erick Torres in Week 5 of 2017. He also joins Will Bruin (Week 7 of 2011) as the only Houston players to earn the award in their first MLS season.
Houston will look to win consecutive road games for the first time this season when they travel to face Real Salt Lake at Rio Tinto Stadium on Saturday, May 28 (9:30 p.m. ET, MLS LIVE on ESPN+).
The MLS Player of the Week presented by Continental Tire is selected each week of the regular season through both media and fan voting in a process conducted by MLS Communications. A panel of journalists from the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR) comprises 75 percent of the vote, while a Twitter fan vote represents the remaining 25 percent of voting. NASR consists of members of print, television, radio and online media.
