Houston Dynamo FC News Release
HOUSTON, TX- (Friday, November 17 2006) - Houston Dynamo defender Adrian Serioux was acquired by Toronto FC today, as part of the 2006 MLS Expansion draft.
Under draft rules, Toronto FC could only choose one player from a list of 14 available from the Dynamo.
"It was (Adrian's) desire to go to Toronto for personal reasons", said Houston Dynamo coach Dominic Kinnear. "We want to thank him for his efforts and contributions during the season he spent with our team, and wish him much success as he starts a new stage in his career at Toronto."
Obtained on March 24, 2006 in a trade with the New York Red Bulls in exchange for midfielder Danny O'Rourke, Serioux became a pivotal part of Houston's defense during its 2006 MLS Cup Championship season. During his time with the Dynamo, Serioux played in 20 games, 15 of which were starts, in which he notched one goal and tallied 1,412 minutes played.
Prior to joining the Dynamo, Serioux was signed by the Red Bulls on March 1, 2006, after spending the past two seasons with Millwall of England's Second Division. During his time with Millwall, Serioux played in 12 games, along with two appearances in the English Carling Cup. The 6-0, 180-pound native of Scarborough, Ontario made his Canadian National Team debut in a World Cup Qualifier against Guatemala on August 4, 2004. He has totaled eight caps in his international career to date.
