Houston Dynamo 2 News Release
HOUSTON - Houston Dynamo 2 fell 4-0 to LA Galaxy II at SaberCats Stadium earlier this evening. This was only the fifth time that Dynamo 2 have lost all three points at home this season and the team finishes the weekend above the playoff line in sixth place in the Western Conference standings.
LA Galaxy II took the lead in the 21st minute after forward Aaron Bibout was able to beat a Dynamo 2 defender to a cross from Gino Vivi at the near post for the opening goal of the match.
The Galaxy doubled their lead in the 53rd minute after forward Jonathan Perez beat the Dynamo 2 goalkeeper with a low shot to the bottom corner of the near post.
Bibout scored his second goal of the night in the 69th minute to extend the Galaxy II lead. The Galaxy added a fourth goal in the third minute of second half stoppage time after Julian Placias found the back of the net.
Houston's first chance of the night came in the seventh minute after midfielder Diego Gonzalez hit the base of the near post. The Galaxy II defense was able to clear the ball before Houston could get a second chance.
Dynamo Dos forward Papa Ndoye, who leads the team in scoring, nearly pulled one back in the 13th minute. The Senegalese striker forced Galaxy II goalkeeper Simon Jillson to make the diving save and punch the ball out for a Dynamo 2 corner kick. Defender Chase Gasper almost scored following the corner kick after taking a shot from the top of the 18-yard box.
Dynamo 2 midfielder Brooklyn Raines forced a save from Jillson in the 24th minute, his effort was on target and ultimately punched over the crossbar.
Defender Teenage Hadebe made his return to the pitch for the first time since April 22 when he started in a 1-0 Houston Dynamo FC victory over Inter Miami. The Zimbabwean international suffered a lower leg injury and has been rehabbing the injury since May 11. The defender played 45 minutes in his first match since late April.
Houston goalkeeper Xavier Valdez made a key save in the 45th minute to keep Galaxy II from extending their lead before heading into the locker room for the halftime break.
Gonzalez nearly equalized in the 53rd minute after the Dynamo Academy Product took a shot from distance, forcing Jillson to make the save.
Dynamo Dos midfielder Jacob Evans took a shot in the 89th minute from the edge of the box that skipped over the crossbar.
Dynamo 2 host St. Louis CITY 2 on Sunday, Sept. 3 at 5:30 p.m. CT at SaberCats Stadium in the penultimate home match of the regular season. The game will stream live on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.
