
Houston Dash to Face Women's Mexican National Team in Inaugural MexTour W Friendly

HOUSTON - The Houston Dash today announced six players will join their respective national teams during the upcoming April FIFA International Window. The Mexican Women's' National Team today announced the 23-player roster that will participate in the historic inaugural edition of MexTour W.
MexTour W, the annual U.S. tour featuring the Mexican Women's National Team, will consist of two April matches during its inaugural year, including a match against the Houston Dash on Tuesday, April 11 at 7:00pm CT at Shell Energy Stadium.
The 2023 NWSL season marks the 10th campaign for the Dash since joining the league as the first expansion team in 2014. Houston made their first postseason appearance last year in front of a sold-out crowd, finishing fourth in the standings last season with a 10-6-6 record, their best mark in league play to date.
Led by new head coach Sam Laity, who brings a decade of experience to Houston and the first-ever general manager in team history, Alex Singer, the Dash aim to bring the first NWSL Championship to Houston to go alongside their 2020 NWSL Challenge Cup title. The Dash train at Houston Sports Park as the team continues to prepare for the 2023 NWSL season.
The Mexican Women's National Team is currently ranked 35th in the FIFA World Rankings. Spanish Head Coach Pedro Lopez took the reins during Fall 2022, focusing on reaching the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup. The team is captained by Real Madrid defender Kenti Robles, Mexico's longest-serving player.
Standouts on the roster also include Houston Dash forwards María Sánchez and Diana Ordóñez, as well as top Liga MX Femenil scorers such as Tigres forward Stephany Mayor, Club America forward Kiana Palacios and midfielder Scarlett Camberos.
To celebrate the launch of MexTour W, Wells Fargo, Official Bank of the Mexican Women's National Team, will host a soccer clinic in Houston on Sunday, April 2, to amplify its commitment to the local community featuring over 150 participants from the area who will receive a backpack, a water bottle and a jersey as part of the event. This clinic will be held at the Houston Sports Park at 3:00pm CT, with special appearances from Houston Dash and Mexican Women's National Team stars Diana Ordóñez and María Sánchez.
