
Houston Dash Players Close out International Duty on a High Note

The finalÃÂ FIFA breakÃÂ of the regular season was a busy stretch for severalÃÂ players on theÃÂ Houston DashÃÂ asÃÂ seven playersÃÂ reported forÃÂ internationalÃÂ duty withÃÂ Canada,ÃÂ EnglandÃÂ and the United States.ÃÂ
Dash forwardÃÂ Rachel DalyÃÂ and EnglandÃÂ faced Latvia in the first of three matchesÃÂ featuring Houston playersÃÂ this week.ÃÂ Daly was subbed into the match in the second halfÃÂ and the Dash captain scored in the 70thÃÂ minuteÃÂ to extend the Lionesses lead over LatviaÃÂ to 7-0.ÃÂ Twelve minutesÃÂ later Daly scored a second goalÃÂ to give England a 10-0 victory and their fourth consecutiveÃÂ victory in their bid to qualify for the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup.ÃÂ
Houston goalkeeperÃÂ Jane CampbellÃÂ earned the start in goal for the United StatesÃÂ against SouthÃÂ Korea in USWNT forward and former Dash player Carli Lloyd's final international matchÃÂ on Tuesday.ÃÂ Campbell earned herÃÂ seventh cap, fifth start and a clean sheet in theÃÂ 6-0 win. MidfielderÃÂ Kristie MewisÃÂ and defenderÃÂ Abby DahlkemperÃÂ were available off the bench for the USWNTÃÂ who said goodbye to former Dash midfielder and international legend Carli Lloyd.ÃÂ The two-time FIFA Women's World Cup champion retired from international competition afterÃÂ earning 316 caps for the U.S., the second most in program history.ÃÂ ÃÂ
Canada beat New Zealand 1-0 inÃÂ MontrealÃÂ on Tuesday andÃÂ Dash defender*ÃÂ Sophie SchmidtÃÂ earned the start in the final game of theÃÂ gold medalÃÂ Celebration Tour. DefenderÃÂ Allysha Chapman*ÃÂ and forwardÃÂ Nichelle PrinceÃÂ were also available off the bench forÃÂ Canada.
The DashÃÂ returnsÃÂ to action this weekend andÃÂ will face the Washington Spirit on Oct. 31 at 1 p.m. CT at Audi Field. Houston is looking to clinch its first everÃÂ playoff berthÃÂ with a win.
