Youngstown SteelHounds News Release

JOHNSTOWN, Pennsylvania - Wednesday night saw a first ever match-up between the Hounds and the Johnstown Chiefs at the Cambria County War Memorial go the way of the hometown Chiefs as Johnstown defeated the Hounds 4-1 in an exhibition game.

The Chiefs struck first as Randy Rowe notched his first of two goals in this game at just 2:49 of the first period to give Johnstown the 1-0 lead after one period. It remained 1-0 until the 19:39 mark of the second period when returning Hound Stephen Margeson smacked a wrist shot from the point past Adam Geragosian to tie the game at one after two periods.

Randy Rowe quickly responded for the Chiefs as he put away the game winner on newcomer goaltender Ben Gray with just over 13 minutes to play to make it 2-1. Johnstown scored two more goals in the final frame to defeat the Hounds 4-1.

Youngstown rotated goaltenders Layne Sedevie in Ben Gray in the loss and captain Chris Richards did not suit up in this game.

The loss put the Hounds to 0-1-0 in the preseason and 1-1-1 lifetime against the ECHL. Friday night the SteelHounds will host another ECHL opponent when the Cincinnati Cyclones come to the Chevrolet Centre for a 7:05pm tilt. Tickets are available for $5 by calling the Hounds at (330) 747-PUCK.
